What is the difference between Patent-Protected, Restricted, and Standard Keyways?

Differences between keyway security levels and supply chain controls

Patent-Protected Keyways
    • Exclusive patent-protected keyway designs allow for enhanced physical security at the core level.  Unauthorized keyways are unable to even enter the cores.
    • Key blanks are not available on the open market
    • Availability is protected under Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements securing the supply of proprietary cores and key blanks
    • Only Licensed Dealers and Authorized Resellers under OEM agreements can receive cores and key blank supply
    • BMHA Certified for durability and security compliance
Restricted Keyways
    • Key blanks are not available on the open market
    • Availability is protected under Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements securing the supply of proprietary cores and key blanks
    • Only Licensed Dealers and Authorized Resellers under OEM agreements can receive cores and key blank supply
    • Not always BMHA Certified for durability and security compliance

Standard Keyways

    • Key blanks are available on the open market
    • Availability is NOT protected allowing anyone to acquire and duplicate without your knowledge (even if stamped "DO NOT DUPLICATE")
    • Not always BMHA Certified for durability and security compliance
