Last step of your InstaKey system? No problem! Time for a ReCore
After you have exhausted all nine available ReKeys, you will need to replace the existing figure 8-shaped IC cores with a new set. Fortunately, this process is just as simple as ReKeying, and can be performed by anyone on-site!
To successfully perform a ReCore, you will need the following materials:
- The Control Key for your current IC Cores
- A set of new IC Cores to be installed, along with their corresponding Operating Keys
- The Control Key for the new set of IC Cores
Once you have gathered the necessary materials, follow these steps to complete the ReCore process:
- Use the Control Key for your current core(s) to remove the existing core(s) from the housing.
- The Control Key will only rotate about 15 degrees, allowing you to slide the core out smoothly.
- Take the new Control Key and insert it into the new core. Turn the key 15 degrees to retract the lug into the core.
- Carefully slide the new core into the empty housing. Then, turn the Control Key another 15 degrees to reengage the lock, securing the core in place.
Make sure the pins inside the housing align properly with the holes on the back of the core. Proper alignment is crucial for the core to be fully inserted and function correctly in the housing.
